Today was the official opening of the new modular bicycle parking facility at the main station, a joint project between the city of Cottbus/Chóśebuz, the Berlin-Brandenburg Transport Association (VBB), and numerous partners. This innovative facility represents an important step toward sustainable mobility and convenient bike-and-ride options in Brandenburg.

The new parking facility on the south side of the station offers a total of 186 parking spaces, including 90 secure slots in three collective locked facilities. These can be booked flexibly—from daily to annual rentals—and there is even a separate area for special bikes. Equipped with a photovoltaic system, LED lighting, video surveillance, a repair station, and an information point, the facility sets new standards in terms of security and service.

Michael Fugel, managing director of infraVelo, emphasized at the opening:

“Our access system for secure parking spaces is more than just an app – ParkYourBike is a growing network and the key to secure bicycle parking. By the end of 2026, we will secure over 1,000 protected parking spaces at dozens of locations in Brandenburg and Berlin. Cottbus, the second-largest city in the state of Brandenburg, is an important part of this development. Together with our partners, the VBB, the Brandenburg municipalities, and the state of Berlin, we are creating an infrastructure that facilitates the switch to environmentally friendly modes of transport and further increases the attractiveness of cycling.”

The project is funded by the federal government's “Stadt und Land” program and by the state of Brandenburg. The modular design reduces planning and manufacturing costs and makes implementation easier for local authorities. For users, this means secure parking spaces from €1 per day – an attractive offer for commuters and travelers. Until February 28, 2026, there will also be an introductory phase during which 24-hour bookings are completely free of charge.

ParkYourBike – digital booking made easy

The secure parking slots can be booked via the ParkYourBike system, which is already available at the Falkensee, Eichwalde, Neuenhagen bei Berlin, and Dahlewitz train stations in Brandenburg, with more municipalities to follow in 2026. Here, parking slots can be conveniently booked online for a fixed rental period during which the slots are exclusively available. 

With the new bicycle parking facility, Cottbus is sending a strong signal for climate-friendly mobility and the expansion of bicycle traffic.
