Now it's official at the Waßmannsdorf train station: The new modular bike parking facility was officially opened today. At the opening ceremony, Brandenburg’s Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Planning Robert Crumbach, Schönefeld Mayor Christian Hentschel, and VBB Managing Director Christoph Heuing highlighted the enormous importance of the new parking spaces for the community and its commuters. It’s especially worth taking a closer look at the facility itself, as it demonstrates how modern bike parking works today—secure, flexible, and convenient.
More Space for Bicycles—With Plenty of Safety and Convenience
There are now 174 bike parking spaces available directly on the east side of the train station.
What makes this facility special is that a large portion of these spaces are secured:
- 90 secured parking spaces in three collective bicycle lockers
- Separate areas for short-term and long-term parking
- Special parking spaces for large or specialized bicycles (e.g., cargo bikes, bikes with trailers)
The rental period for a parking space can be set individually—from one day to a full year. During the booking period, the parking space is assigned exclusively to the respective booking. During the booking period, the parking space is assigned exclusively to the respective reservation.

The bike parking facility offers much more than just a sheltered place:
