151 bike boxes, including boxes for cargo bikes, can now be used at Falkensee station with ParkYourBike. On May 28, 2025, Falkensee Mayor Heiko Richter welcomed infraVelo Managing Director Michael Fugel and other project participants from the federal, state and local authorities, the Verkehrsverbund Berlin-Brandenburg (VBB), planning and construction companies as well as Falkensee town councillors to the official opening of the facility.
And this is how it works in Brandenburg: interested users simply open the “ParkYourBike” app and then select one of the three available facilities at Falkensee station as well as the desired rental period and start date. The booking is completed by paying the parking fee and receiving the access data and a code. To open the door to the box, the QR code from the app can be held in front of the scanner or the TAN and slot number from the booking data can be entered manually. The service is available in German and English. For questions or comments, the “ParkYourBike” team or the intelligent service bot can be contacted. Protected bike parking is also possible around the clock in Falkensee.
The parking fee for 24-hour use is €1. If you park your bike for seven days, you pay a one-off price of €5. A parking fee of €15 is charged for 30 days of use and €30 for a parking period of 90 days. The parking periods over 30 and 90 days are not expected to be available until July 2025.
Free trail phase until June 30, 2025
The official opening of the bike boxes on May 28, 2025 will also mark the start of a free trial phase for users. During this time, bicycle parking will be offered free of charge for the short-term tariffs of 24 hours and seven days. The free trial period will last until June 30, 2025. After that, the booking system will automatically switch to paid mode. After the closure of the Berlin-Hamburg railroad line, during which the Falkensee train stops will also be closed for nine months from August 1, 2025, a further free trial phase is planned.
The bike boxes, which are located along the north and south sides of the station, were built with federal and state funding as well as funds from the municipal budget. The state of Berlin has co-financed the roll-out of the ParkYourBike system in Brandenburg.
